Delta Inpatient Rehabilitation Center's mission is "To provide a
comprehensive rehabilitation program of the highest quality in order to
improve the functional independence of our patients with both permanent and temporary impairments.
After an accident or acute illness, our staff will assist
you and your family with your physical impairment and emotional needs.
In addition we will assist you and your family with any lifestyle changes
that you may encounter.
Missouri Delta Inpatient Rehab Center currently holds a 3-year CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) Accreditation. Our facility is the only of of its kind from Cape Girardeau to the Bootheel to obtain such an accreditation. This special accreditation represents the highest level of achievement that can be awarded to an organization and shows the facility's substantial conformance to over 400 standards established by CARF.

Who does the Inpatient Rehab Center help?
Typically, those who the Inpatient Rehab Center helps
are those patients with the following diagnoses*:
- Major Multiple Trauma
- Stroke
- Femur Fractures
- Active, Polyarticular Rheumatoid Arthritis (with qualifying admission criteria)
- Amputations
- Burns
- Neurological Conditions-Parkinson's Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Muscular Dystrophy, Polyneuropathy

- Brain & Spinal Cord Injuries
- Systemic Vasculidities with Join Inflammation (with qualifying admission criteria)
- Congenital Deformities
- Hip and Knee Joint Replacements (with qualifying admission criteria)
- Severe or Advanced Osteoarthritis (with qualifying admission criteria)
- Other debilitating conditions

*In order to be admitted to the Inpatient Rehab Center and to enroll in our acute rehab program, you must be able to participate in three-hours of therapy per day. Therapy sessions are typically broken up in 30-minute increments throughout the day.
Who cares for the patients at the Inpatient Rehab Center?
Missouri Delta Inpatient Rehab Center contains a highly qualified team of nurses, social workers and therapists-including physical, occupational & speech therapists. The team is lead by Dr. Stephen Welton.
Dr. Welton currently practices as an Internist at Missouri Delta Medical Center and Ferguson Medical Group in Sikeston. He also currently serves as Medical Director of Missouri Delta Inpatient Rehabilitation Center.
Dr. Welton has a background in Respiratory Therapy and attended medical school at the American University of the Caribbean. He is currently a member of Fellow of American Association of Disability Evaluating Physicians.
Dr. Welton currently serves as Medical Director for the Sleep Lab Institute and the Respiratory Therapy Department at Missouri Delta Medical Center and for several long-term care facilities in Sikeston. He has also served as Medical Director for Providence Hospice and Senior Lifestyles at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
