Once a patient is referred to the
Sleep Institute, tests are performed by our highly trained physicians
and technicians, to diagnose a sleep disorder. Often, the first
of these tests is a polysomnogram, or sleep study. This procedure
monitors sleep patterns, such as brain waves, muscle activity, heart
rate, breathing and snoring. The results assist doctors in finding
many diagnoses, however additional testing, such as multiple sleep
latency tests, conducted as the patient takes daytime naps, may
be needed to diagnose disorders not evident at night.
The
Sleep Institute offers rapid diagnostic and treatment services that
help patients restore quality, restful sleep. Trained sleep specialists
review the results of tests performed and work with you and your
physician to find the most appropriate treatment available.
