Missouri Delta Medical Center’s Cardiac Rehabilitation Program is designed for patients with a history of chest pain or those recovering from a stent placement, heart attach or heart surgery. Cardiac Rehab specialist develop each exercise prescription to meet the individual patient’s needs. Through supervised exercise programs, education and group support for both patients and families, participants learn how to adapt to a new, healthier way of life.
Missouri Delta’s Cardiac Rehab program operates on an outpatient basis. Patient attend exercise sessions one to three times a week up to 12 weeks. A physician’s order is required for the program. Equipment used during this outpatient cardiac rehab includes a treadmill, seated stepper, stationary bicycle ergometer and an arm ergometer.
Electrocardiogram monitoring is done on-site by a registered nurse and patients are al monitored via a transtelephonic hook-up with Southeast Health’s Cardiac Rehab staff in Cape Girardeau.

Inpatient Rehabilitation is the process of assisting those who have a disabling condition due to injury of illness. Inpatient Rehab builds strength, endurance and independence with a goal of returning patients to their prior independent life style. It helps to keep patients at home for a longer amount of time keeping them out of extended living centers. Inpatient Rehab builds encouragement by working with patients on home safety and education regarding new diagnoses.
Family members often times have to work together and need support to be able to adjust to changes as a result of their loved one’s disability. The Rehabilitation Team helps both the patient and the family to make these adjustments.

Through an individualized treatment plan, including advanced assessment, supervised exercise and education, patients learn how to manage their condition, live better and avoid future health problems. Pulmonary Rehabilitation can reduce shortness of breath; improve endurance and increase independence and quality of life.
