Missouri Delta Announces an Interventional Cardiologist and a New Cardiac Catherization Lab
In 2026, our investment in cardiovascular services will come to life with an interventional cardiologist and a new cardiac catherization lab.
In a major leap forward for heart care in the region, Missouri Delta Medical Center announced the opening of its new cardiology department and state-of-the-art cardiac catheterization lab in 2026. This expansion significantly enhances the hospital’s ability to provide comprehensive cardiovascular services close to home, a critical need for patients facing heart disease—the leading cause of death nationwide.
Missouri Delta has invested in cutting-edge technology and modern facilities to support both diagnostic and interventional procedures, allowing clinicians to offer more advanced care for conditions such as coronary artery disease, heart rhythm disorders, and acute cardiac events. Establishing a cath lab locally represents a milestone for the community, reducing the need for patients to travel long distances for life-saving procedures.
Joining the medical staff to lead this initiative is Zaid Alirhayim, MD, FACC, FSCAI, a highly trained interventional cardiologist. With specialized expertise in minimally invasive heart procedures, Dr. Alirhayim brings a wealth of experience in catheter-based treatments that can help restore blood flow, place stents, and manage complex cardiovascular conditions. His leadership is expected to elevate the standard of cardiac care available at Missouri Delta and strengthen the hospital’s focus on delivering personalized, high-quality treatment.
Hospital leadership highlighted that the cath lab and expanded cardiology services will not only improve outcomes for patients experiencing heart attacks and chronic heart conditions but also support preventive care and long-term heart health management. The community can now access more timely, advanced cardiac care without leaving the region, reinforcing Missouri Delta’s commitment to meeting the evolving health needs of its patients.
