SIKESTON — Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston has become the first health system in Missouri to offer artificial intelligence-enabled detection of breast arterial calcifications as part of routine mammography.
The hospital announced Thursday, Oct. 1 it will deploy cmAngio, an FDA-cleared imaging solution from CureMetrix, to identify the presence of breast arterial calcifications using existing screening mammograms.
The technology provides physicians with additional information from a standard mammogram, offering insights into a woman’s overall health profile. Detecting breast arterial calcifications can help identify an underreported incidental finding, according to Missouri Delta Medical Center CEO Jason Schrumpf.
“Our patients rely on us for advanced breast cancer screening, and with CureMetrix cmAngio we are now also able to identify an underreported incidental finding — breast arterial calcifications,” Schrumpf said. “This is a game-changer for women’s health in our region by turning their mammogram into a two-for-one exam.”
Missouri Delta Medical Center, which has served Southeast Missouri since 1948, continues to expand its offerings in women’s health and preventive care. The hospital’s mission is to provide comprehensive care close to home, ensuring patients receive both advanced breast cancer screening and an assessment of breast arterial calcifications in a single exam.
