Missouri Delta Receives Grant Focused on Improving Quality of Life for Older Adults and their Families

The funds Missouri Delta will receive are to assist in developing age-friendly and dementia-friendly healthcare activities, a Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CST) program to improve cognition, mood, and quality of life for older adults with dementia, and a Circle of Friends program to address loneliness and social isolation.
“Elderly in the community need a lot of support and direction for resources. We currently offer free memory screenings on the third Wednesday of each month and hold an Alzheimer’s support group on the 2nd Thursday of each month, both at the YMCA”, explains Dr. Madhu Sahai, geriatrician with Missouri Delta, “but a lot more work is needed. The aim is for a full-fledged geriatric center.”
More information will be forthcoming on programs and initiatives Dr. Madhu Sahai and her gerontology team will be developing. “With excellent support from administration and the marketing team, we will work to achieve our goals for the elderly community and their families”, says Dr. Sahai.
