Missouri Delta Medical Center is proud to announce that, thanks to the support of our Foundation, we are bringing Automated Breast Ultrasound (ABUS) technology to Sikeston. This advanced tool allows us to better screen women with dense breast tissue, providing care that is both cutting-edge and close to home.
Why Breast Density Matters
- Nearly half of all women have dense breast tissue.
- Dense tissue can make it harder for mammograms to detect cancer.
- Women with dense breasts also face a slightly higher risk of developing breast cancer. National guidelines now require that women are informed about breast density and encouraged to discuss additional imaging options with their provider.
What is ABUS?
ABUS is a special type of ultrasound designed specifically for breast screening. Unlike handheld ultrasound, it captures a complete 3-D view of the breast quickly and comfortably.
