When gynecological surgery is required, we have access to the da Vinci Robotic Surgical System for a minimally-invasive procedure that results in less pain, fewer complications, a shorter hospital stay, and smaller incisions for less scarring.

Safety and Security: Missouri Delta Women’s and Children’s Center offers a secure environment with restricted access to ensure your safety and that of your newborn. We use an infant protection system that includes electronic tags on babies, which trigger an alarm if the baby is moved too close to an exit door.
Pain Management Options: To support your comfort during labor, we offer a variety of pain management options, including both medicated and non-medicated methods. Our experienced anesthesia team is available around the clock to provide labor epidurals, ensuring you receive the relief you need.
Cesarean Sections: In the event that a C-section is required, our dedicated operating room in the Labor and Delivery department is fully equipped to handle your procedure safely and efficiently.
Bonding Time and Rest: We recognize the importance of early bonding with your newborn. Skin-to-skin contact and early breastfeeding are encouraged immediately after delivery. Your “Golden Hour” is a special time for you to connect with your baby, and we support you in this intimate experience. If you need rest, our expert nursing staff will care for your newborn, allowing you to focus on recovery while we look after your precious bundle.
Newborn Assessment: Your baby will undergo a thorough health assessment immediately after birth, which can be performed while you are enjoying skin-to-skin contact if the baby is stable.
Level II Nursery: In the event that your baby requires additional medical care after birth, our Level II nursery is equipped to provide comprehensive, specialized care for newborns facing medical complications.
Lactation Consultation: For new mothers who wish to breastfeed, we offer lactation consultations designed to provide the information, support, and confidence needed for a successful breastfeeding experience. Our lactation consultant is available during your hospital stay, and consultations can be scheduled in advance by calling 573-472-7535.
Dedicated Emergency Care: If you experience any symptoms of pre-term labor or other pregnancy-related concerns, our expert team is available to provide immediate care. Expectant mothers experiencing urgent medical issues are encouraged to come directly to our Emergency Department, where they will be quickly triaged and sent to the Labor and Delivery unit for further care.
Special Amenities: Our spacious, private rooms are designed to ensure a comfortable and restful stay for both mother and family. Rooms are equipped with flat-screen TVs, private bathrooms, and accommodations for a family member or significant other. We offer a cafeteria with meals available for family members, and local restaurants also provide delivery services to the medical center. Of course, meals are provided for the mother during her stay. We also offer newborn photography services to capture those precious first moments. Patient-provided photographers are welcome as well, in accordance with our visitor policies.
