Senior Lifestyles
You Are Not Alone
Aging brings many changes, and while we all hope our loved ones will enjoy their golden years, the reality can be more challenging. The loss of family and friends, along with the physical and cognitive changes that come with aging, can take an emotional toll. At Missouri Delta Medical Center’s Senior Lifestyles, we provide compassionate, individualized care in a warm and supportive environment, helping seniors navigate these challenges with dignity and respect.
Understanding the Emotional Challenges of Aging
Mental and emotional health concerns are common among older adults, yet they often go unrecognized or untreated. Consider these national statistics:
- One in four older adults experiences serious emotional difficulties related to aging.
- Depressed older adults have the highest risk of suicide in our society.
- Over 5 million Americans suffer from Alzheimer’s disease.
- More than 2 million Americans over 55 live with a chronic mental illness.
Recognizing and addressing these challenges is critical to improving quality of life for seniors and their families.
How We Can Help
Our dedicated team of professionals begins with a comprehensive evaluation to determine the root cause of behavioral and mental changes. We assess for any underlying medical conditions and collaborate with the patient, family, and other healthcare professionals to develop a personalized treatment plan.
Our treatment approach includes:
- Individual consultations with psychiatrists to address specific mental health concerns.
- Group therapy sessions with peers facing similar challenges, fostering shared support and healing.
- Educational programs to help patients and families better understand mental health and coping strategies.
Our therapies are designed to help patients return home and resume their daily lives as quickly and independently as possible. Additionally, our discharge planners and case managers assist in coordinating care and support services following hospitalization.
